Description

This image was taken over two nights in mid-April 2023 with an ASI2600mm Pro through a Celestron 8" EdgeHD on an EQ6-R Pro mount using APT.

The image comprises:

L:     141 x 60s
R:       60 x 60s
G:       60 x 60s
B:       60 x 60s

Total integration time was five hours and 21 minutes. The image was processed in Pixinsight and tweaked in Photoshop.

First noted by Charles Messier in 1781, this intermediate spiral galaxy is about 60 million light years away and part of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies.

I don't believe that I have ever imaged this galaxy (or observed it visually) before.  April's weather here in Arizona has proven much friendlier to astro-imaging than the prior two months (thankfully) and I have spent almost every night of the last 10 days capturing galaxies. This makes me very happy.
